LET THEM EAT FASHION™

Life has been pretty crazy recently, hence my hiatus from Tumblr. April is a crazy month for college admission offices across the country, so needless to say, I’ve been a (willing) slave to my job the past couple of weeks. I have, however, found some time to enjoy Boston, great friends, and, of course, my family.

With my birthday being yesterday (I turned the big 2-6!), I was able to reflect on the accomplishments I’ve made this past year and realize what I want achieve this year. There are some great things in store for myself and Let Them Eat Fashion, and I can’t wait to get started on all of it!

[Hashtag] Hang Tag

My hairdresser, Sylvia, is pretty badass. She and her girlfriend opened up their own salon while holding their full-time jobs. Now they have a successful and beautiful studio in Brookline with which I am slightly obsessed and find incredibly inspiring. I wish I went to get my haircut more often because I always leave the chair and our conversations motivated to work my ass off on Let Them Eat Fashion.

This time around, she really got me thinking about the difficulties of beginning your own business when there are so many external distractions - work, friends, significant others…life. While none of those things are bad (at all), they can take away from potential progress. As hard as the balancing act can be, it’s important for me to preserve all those positive elements in my life. When I get into the LTEF groove, though, watch out!

Last night, over a glass of wine and my DVR, I was able to design my hang tags. These are a branding element that no one can do without and customers cut off in about 2.5 seconds of trying it on. Regardless of their short lifespan, I needed these to add some ‘wow!’ to my products and complete the registration process of my trademark. It was exciting to finally mock them up because it helped me picture my t-shirts and apparel as something, well, legit!

Once the proofs come back, I will be sure to share them with you all! Until then - thank you, Sylvia!

Much Love & Cake,
Chris

Academy Awards 2014 | Best Dressed
My jaw legit dropped when I saw Charlize Theron come out on stage to present last night at the Academy Awards. I thought already thought she was flawless, but this black mermaid gown brought her beyond perfection! The neckline is absolutely stunning (complimented nicely by the drop necklace), and the sheer train brought it to a whole new level. There were many highlights from last night’s award show, and Theron was one of them! Rock on, girl!

Not only did she give the most heartfelt speech of the night after winning the Oscar for Best Supporting Actress, Lupita Nyong’o won our hearts over when she stepped on the red carpet in this custom-made Prada gown. The grecian dress was flawless and she carried it with such grace and elegance. Lupita is the epitome of a class act, and I hope to see more of her in the future!

I look forward to seeing Joseph Gordon-Levitt on the red carpet every award season because he always brings some subtle humor to the events. While he wore the usual pin on the lapel of his Calvin Klein suit, it was the bright blue socks he wore that stole the show. C’mon now - it doesn’t get better or more adorable than that!

Maybe it’s because I’m a native Long Islander, but I’m not used to this ice cold weather and constant snow that Boston has been experiencing. It’s beautiful, don’t get me wrong, but I’d rather enjoy it from the privacy of my apartment with a cup of coffee. Regardless, I have taken the time to explore the city in all of its winter wonderland goodness, and despite the cold, it has been quite nice. I’ll be sad to see the snow melt, but I’m very ready to enjoy the springtime!

Anyone else ready to throw on a t-shirt sans jacket?!

Much Love & Cake,
Chris
